The First Thanksgiving Feast
by Joan Anderson & George Ancona

The Pilgrims' first harvest festival in 1621 was a time for playing games, singing, and dancing as well as feasting. Here is a fascinating re-creation, accurate in every detail, of that famous event.

The First Thanksgiving Feast was photographed at Plimoth Plantation, the outdoor living history museum at Plymouth, Massachusetts. The people at Plimoth Plantation, who are called interpreters, impersonate Governor William Bradford, Captain Myles Standish, and the other Pilgrims from the Mayflower. Chief Massasoit and the Indian guests at the feast are descendants of the Wampanoag nation, the original inhabitants of the area.

Joan Anderson's lively text and George Ancona's robust photographs will enrich every reader's perception of one of the most popular moments in American history.
